EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS
During the COVID lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, Mieke ran a series of very popular Virtual Workshops via Zoom. Six of these Workshops are now available as videos. Her husband Matt Palmer has created a fantastic new educational platform called "Photo Kaizen" where he is utilising his extensive judging experience to offer valuable in-depth photo critique. As these videos closely align with his educational program, Mieke's videos are currently being uploaded to his platform, where you'll be able to watch them all for free once you sign up (also for free!). Head on over to his website https://photokaizen.co/ and sign up, and in a few days' time, you'll be able to watch them all via the "Photography Resources" section on your dashboard!

"I have completed several of Mieke's tutorials, the latest being the composition one. They have all been great and loaded with many learnings and takeaways to improve my photography. Well worth the small price she charges."
"Nailing the Focus in Landscape Photography" is my third workshop that I have done, and each of them have been absolutely amazing. I have learnt so much, and it has clarified a lot for me and made elements of taking landscape photos a lot clearer. Maybe it's because Mieke was a teacher previously, but she definitely has a way to simplify various aspects of photography so it's easy to understand. The print-out that she has is fantastic to not only keep as a reference but to write your own notes so you can always go back and revisit various aspects that you may want to familiarise yourself with again. I am definitely looking forward to doing a couple of her other workshops. So thank you Mieke for all the hard work you have done in making these presentations/ workshops so awesome!"
"Mieke Boynton's video tutorials on abstract photography are fantastic. They cover numerous aspects of abstract photography from basics like definitions to aerial photography, oil and water, smoke, natural and urban abstracts and more. They include detail about techniques and basic processing. The videos are clearly presented and are a great and easy way to expand a photographer's horizons and expertise. They are also very reasonably priced. I highly recommend them!"
“I have completed 3 of Mieke's online workshops. I have loved every one and have learned a lot from each. Mieke has so much knowledge to share and she shares it beautifully. As well as being an award winning photographer, she is a teacher and has a background in art, and all of these come through in her workshops. Now when I pick up the camera I hear Mieke's voice - about composition, light, shadows, symmetry ... I can't recommend Mieke's workshops highly enough!”
"I highly recommend Mieke's video workshops, having now completed them all. They are inspiring, easy to follow, and most informative. The two Creative Abstract workshops provided endless photographic opportunities during times when it was not possible to venture out."
"As a very amateur photographer I first saw Mieke give a presentation to a camera club in 2018. I found that she explained complex photographic theories in simple terms. The video workshop follows these principles. They are a great way to learn as you can watch the video, follow with the course notes, pause the video and make adjustments to your camera in the comfort of your home. I purchased:
• Composition in Landscape Photography,
• Black and White Photography Essentials, and
• Nailing the Focus in Landscape Photography.
I found the three video courses extremely informative and would highly recommend them to any one wishing to improve their photography."
"I am generally a children/action photographer, and have had my eyes opened up to landscape photography. Mieke has proven content knowledge and also knows how to communicate it so you don't feel like you are in a photography-101 funpack. Mieke has a very gentle and easy to listen to Australian accent, it guides you through the workshop content as if you were walking through a botanical garden ready to shoot a roll of film.
I got some of these videos as a gift, I would 10/10 recommend to gift to anyone who wants to develop their skills further."
"I watched 5 of Mieke's videos and found them extremely helpful. The videos also come with notes which are a great ongoing resource. Mieke is a very engaging speaker and the videos are well organised and suitable for photographers with varying levels of expertise. I would recommend them wholeheartedly."
“I wish I'd found Mieke's workshops sooner. Loved the Waterfalls/Seascapes and Night Photography workshop - Mieke shares so much information in a concise, easy to understand way. Talented, inspiring and encouraging - I've already signed up for another course and can't wait to get out there and practice. Thank you Mieke."
"I have recently completed a few of Mieke's online workshops and they are just fantastic. Well organized, concise and full of very good information that is easy to understand. It has been wonderful to refresh and to learn so much more. I would happily recommend Mieke's workshops to any photographer.”
"I bought the Abstract photography course as I want to diversify my skills.
I love it. Mieke teaches many different techniques in a simple way that everybody can understand.
The support was really good too. Always answering my e-mails. Can’t wait to buy the other courses!"
"Another outstanding workshop from Mieke (my third). Mieke is both a very talented photographer but possibly more importantly for me she is a great teacher. She is able to structure her courses to ensure participants come away with great ideas and an improved skill set. Thanks again."

"I booked an individual tutorial with Mieke to increase my knowledge of aerial photography and am so pleased that I did. Mieke was well prepared, structuring the tutorial around questions and problematic images that I submitted beforehand.
Much was covered, including settings, lenses, best flight times, aircraft, pre-flight preparation and post production suggestions. Reasons for all ideas were very helpful. A bonus is the Mieke sent me a recording of the tutorial so I have been able to review and think about it several times. Mieke is very professional in her approach and I felt free to ask questions and comment throughout the tutorial. I feel better prepared for an up coming aerial photography trip and look forward to it with increased confidence rather than uncertainties. If you are thinking of and individual tutorial session with Mieke, I highly recommend her services."
"Photography has been one of my great joys over the last 15 years, but I've never had the confidence to share my landscape work. However, with guidance and support from Mieke in composition, technique, and editing, I am now more comfortable sharing my photos, and they will also be better. On top of this, her love of the craft and the Victorian High Country is infectious, and since our last lesson, I can't wait to get back out into the VHC to implement what I've learnt from her."
"I have now had two one-on-one sessions with Mieke on very different topics and both have been nothing short of superb. It’s by far and away the best value for money photographic educational experience I’ve had. I wish I’d started tutorials with Mieke two or three years ago. Mieke is a natural and engaging teacher. She is very organised and thorough in her preparation before a session and so covers a lot of ground in the one hour you get face to face. Having the session recorded is very useful to go back over the subtleties of some of the aspects discussed.
The most impressive aspect for me though is her insightfulness, not just in an understanding what I think I’d like to get from the tutorial but in seeing way beyond that. Mieke is very perceptive in reading where you (actually) are in your photographic journey and positively and enthusiastically walks you through a raft of suggestions, tips and intuitions to improve your photographs. But more than that she cleverly structured each session to deliver me a clear set of pathway options to take my photography to the next level.
My two sessions with Mieke have rekindled my passion for photography and renewed my desire to progress and improve. I’ll definitely be having more in the future."
"A tutorial with Mieke is a wonderful way to get some targeted feedback on your images. She is always prepared for our time together and has given me honest advice on the strength of my images. Mieke has not only highlighted my strengths & weaknesses she is constantly revealing where I should ‘focus’ next on my creative journey. She has helped me understand how competitions can help this process but also how to choose which ones to enter. I love Mieke’s attention to detail and am grateful for her genuine concern and encouragement for my work. Her positive energy, her passion for her photography and her honesty with my work are just a few of the reasons why I keep coming back for more 1on1 tutorials. If you are looking for a mentor, then I can sincerely recommend Mieke as a tutor and guarantee you will not be disappointed."
"Living in a regional area I have found Mieke’s online workshops & tutorial sessions a Godsend. You get to learn from one of Australia’s leading landscape photographers in the comfort of your own home. Mieke is a fantastic educator & her eye for detail has helped me improve my own photography & post production immensely. I would recommend her tutorial sessions to anyone who is looking to take their photography to the next level."
" I recently attended one of Mieke's one on one tutorial sessions. I was immediately impressed that Mieke asked for 10 -12 images a week in advance, so we had something very specific and personal to discuss. I deliberately chose some images which I thought were terrific and others which I wanted some advice on. I was surprised by what Mieke saw in the images that I hadn’t seen. We then discussed each image, my purpose in taking it and suggestions for improvement. Quite a remarkable session which opened my eyes to some of the habits I had developed over the years and of which I was totally unaware. My new mantra is to look AND see."
